Megan Thee Stallion Exits 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical' Two Weeks Early
Megan Thee Stallion is stepping away from her Broadway debut earlier than expected. The 31-year-old rapper announced Monday that her final performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical will take place on Friday, May 1—cutting her run short by more than two weeks from the originally scheduled May 17 departure.
In a statement released on April 27, the artist expressed gratitude for her time with the production while acknowledging the toll of recent events. "It's been such an honor to be part of Moulin Rouge and I've met so many amazing people in this theater," she said, praising the cast and crew's work ethic and dedication. "Every single person at the Moulin Rouge has inspired me to go harder as an entertainer."
She continued, "I'm so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful. Y'all are really some of the kindest human beings I've ever met! To all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey!"
The early exit follows Megan's recent breakup from NBA player Klay Thompson, whom she accused of infidelity. She became emotional on stage during a Saturday performance while sharing news of the split with the audience.
The timing also comes after a health scare that marked the beginning of her run. In March, Megan was hospitalized mid-performance, requiring medical attention during her opening weeks on stage.
Broadway producers will announce the actor who will take over the role of Harold Zidler from May 2 through May 17.
