Meghan McCain Takes Aim at Alyssa Farah Griffin Over 'The View' Succession

April 27, 2026

Meghan McCain has launched a pointed critique of Alyssa Farah Griffin, the co-host who took over her seat at The View following her 2021 departure from the daytime talk show.

During an episode of her Citizen McCain podcast, the 41-year-old conservative voiced her concerns about how the show handled her replacement. McCain revealed that the executive producer had asked her to help identify a successor, and she submitted a list of candidates she believed would be suitable for the role, including Allie Beth Stuckey.

McCain emphasized her preference for hiring someone with authentic conservative credentials. "You need someone who's a real one," she stated, expressing her desire to avoid bringing on individuals she described as "fake people who once voted for President Bush in the early 2000s and now hate everything Republicans" have become.

She then delivered a more direct assessment of Griffin, 36, who previously held a position in the first Trump administration. "The person they replaced me with is a joke. She is in no way representative of conservative women," McCain said. "It's been a wildly disappointing experience for me to see what legacy I helped do during the four years there while my dad battled brain cancer and I had not one, but two miscarriages while I worked there."

McCain also referenced Griffin's recent public disclosure about voting for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, questioning how that choice aligns with representing conservative viewpoints. Later in the podcast episode, McCain referred to Griffin dismissively as "whatever."

In contrast, McCain praised Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who recently guest-hosted the program while Griffin took maternity leave following the birth of her first child. "She was great, and she was really strong and she fought for a lot of the things that I fight for," McCain said of Hasselbeck's performance.
