Melissa McCarthy Circling Thriller 'Turpentine' With Connor Storrie Rumored to Co-Star

April 20, 2026

Melissa McCarthy is in negotiations to headline the thriller Turpentine, with actor Connor Storrie rumored to be joining the project as well.

The Oscar-nominated performer would reunite with Craig Zobel, known for directing The Penguin and Mare of Easttown, on the upcoming film, per Deadline.

The story centers on a struggling son who recruits companions to rob his own parents in order to settle a debt with a bookie—a plan that spirals into chaos.

Storrie is believed to be in line for the lead role as the son. DeuxMoi reported the pairing between the two actors one day before Deadline's story on McCarthy's involvement in the project.

While Storrie's casting remains unconfirmed at this stage, the pairing has generated considerable intrigue around the film.

Justin Varava penned the script; he previously worked as a writer on Disney Channel series including Wizards of Waverly Place and Bizaardvark. The screenplay earned a spot on the Black List in 2024.

In other news, Storrie will appear in an upcoming episode of Criminal Minds, a casting confirmed by fellow guest star Yvette Nicole Brown.
