MGK Reveals TSA PreCheck Ban Tied to Past Drug Conviction

April 24, 2026

Machine Gun Kelly is unable to take advantage of TSA PreCheck or other fast-track airport security programs, the 36-year-old artist revealed during an appearance on the Take Flight podcast.

The "Bloody Valentine" singer attributed the restriction to a past drug possession charge. "I got caught with cocaine on the way back from New Zealand last time I was out here. Traveling was difficult because I have a level one narcotics possession or whatever," he explained, according to reports.

The conviction had broader implications for the musician, whose real name is Colson Baker. Australia's entry requirements kept him out of the country for eight years, as the statute of limitations on the charge runs for a decade.

Without access to TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or other expedited screening options, Baker said he remains subject to standard airport procedures. "I'm still stuck in lines like normal," he noted.

The artist has previously discussed his approach to sobriety, stating in 2024 that he maintains complete abstinence and no longer consumes alcohol.

In other recent developments, unconfirmed reports suggested tension in his personal life, with speculation that his social media access may have been restricted by a family member following certain online activity. Additionally, an unsettling incident occurred at one of his concert performances in early March when an audience member fell from the stage.
