Carys Douglas Makes Her Professional Theater Debut in New York Production of The Seagull

Carys Douglas is ready for her moment on stage.
The 23-year-old is taking her first professional theater role in an upcoming production of The Seagull in New York City. Theater company Solid Flesh is presenting the Anton Chekhov classic as what they describe as a "multi-space, site-specific theatrical experience." The limited engagement runs from June 20 through June 27 at St. Lydia's in Brooklyn.
Carys, the daughter of actors Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, has long harbored theatrical aspirations. Following her graduation from Brown University last October, she discussed her career plans in an interview, noting: "I grew up doing theater, and I didn't study acting in school, but that's why I'm happy to be in such an informative arts space, so hopefully more of that."
The 81-year-old Michael Douglas and 56-year-old Catherine Zeta-Jones, married since 2000, have two children together: Carys and her brother Dylan, 25. Michael also has a son, Cameron, 47, from his previous marriage to Diandra Luker.
The family drew attention in December when Michael and Catherine issued a statement refuting reports suggesting they would boycott CNN following an on-air exchange involving Dylan and conservative commentator Scott Jennings on CNN NewsNight.
