Alex Consani Opens Up About Dating, Career Goals, and Trans Advocacy Work

The runway's breakout star is revealing more about what drives her both on and off the catwalk.
At just 22 years old, Alex Consani has already made history as the first trans woman to claim Model of the Year honors at the UK's Fashion Awards in 2024. Since that milestone, she's become a fixture at major fashion presentations and red-carpet events worldwide. Now, in a candid conversation with Harper's Bazaar for their Summer 2026 The Freedom Issue, Consani is opening up about her personal life and evolving priorities.
When the subject of romance came up, Consani was refreshingly frank about her dating preferences. She explained that she gravitates more toward casual connections than committed relationships, noting that traditional dating opportunities rarely materialize for her. "There's nothing in my DMs," she quipped, adding that scrolling through them would make for entertaining content.
On the question of what catches her interest in a potential partner, Consani laid out a playful—and decidedly specific—wish list that included an event planner with a low profile, a European soccer player, a female firefighter, a chef, and heirs to hotel empire families like Rosewood. The tongue-in-cheek rundown showcased her sense of humor about the dating landscape.
Her commitment to modeling, however, remains absolute. When asked if she might ever step away from the industry, Consani was unequivocal: the runway will always hold her heart, and she plans to remain a fixture on it indefinitely. That said, she acknowledged a growing desire to pursue personal projects and experiences beyond the fashion world.
The conversation also touched on her deepening engagement with trans advocacy, particularly her work supporting young people in the community. Consani emphasized the importance of creating spaces for meaningful dialogue and positive experiences within the trans community. She highlighted the interconnected nature of trans identity, noting that regardless of other aspects of someone's life—whether they're Black or white, wealthy or struggling—trans people are fundamentally united by their shared experience.
Consani expressed frustration with inadequate support systems, stressing that genuine advocacy requires more than surface-level responses. Instead, she champions an approach centered on empowerment and authentic connection, recognizing the unique bonds that form within the community across all demographics and circumstances.
