Molly Shannon Celebrates Hollywood Walk of Fame Star With Signature 'Superstar' Moment

Molly Shannon's journey in entertainment reached a significant milestone on Monday afternoon when the beloved actress and comedian was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood.

The celebration brought together some of Shannon's closest collaborators and loved ones. Will Ferrell, her co-star from the 1999 film Superstar, attended the event alongside Connie Britton from The White Lotus. Shannon's husband Fritz Chestnut and daughter Stella were also present to mark the occasion.

In a nod to her most iconic character, Shannon recreated the legendary pose that made her famous—the exuberant jump with hands raised high while declaring "superstar." The gesture referenced her beloved Saturday Night Live character Mary Katherine Gallagher, whom she brought to the big screen in Superstar nearly three decades ago.

During her acceptance remarks, Shannon reflected on the persistence required to reach this point. She recalled her father's offer to help her return home if life in Los Angeles became too difficult, noting that she was struggling financially at the time. Rather than accept, she realized something profound about her situation. "At least I'm out here doing what I love," she shared. "So many people I knew from high school had given up on their dreams. At least I'm in L.A. trying. And that alone is a very meaningful life, and that is actually a good, brave thing."

Shannon emphasized the toll that rejection takes in the entertainment industry and how self-doubt can easily creep in. "There is a lot of rejection in show business and many people will make you doubt yourself, until one day you get on Saturday Night Live and become a superstar," she said. "Getting a star means so much to me. Dreams do come true."
