The critical commentary emphasized stronger fight choreography, improved costume design, and a more confident tone than its predecessor. Several reviewers characterized the film as delivering exactly what fans of the franchise expect, with one noting that it represents the most faithful adaptation of the video game series to date.
While some critics acknowledged the film's campy sensibilities and noted occasional moments where it holds back, the overwhelming sentiment centered on the movie's entertainment value and its success at capturing the spirit of the source material.
