'Murder in a Small Town' is heading back to Fox for another season.

The network announced Thursday, May 7 that the mystery drama has been picked up for Season 3 as part of the 2026-27 television schedule. The series, which broadcasts on Global in Canada, stars Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk and will expand its ensemble with the addition of Peter Gallagher, known for his role on 'Grace and Frankie.'

Gallagher will take on the role of Rod Finlayson, characterized as "a charismatic, uber-independent, capable yet unreliable figure, whose arrival at the Gibsons marina on his beloved boat sets up a sequence of upheavals that Alberg and Cassandra will have to grapple with."

The series centers on Karl Alberg (Sutherland), a world-class detective who assumes the position of police chief in the tranquil coastal community of Gibsons. Despite the town's serene appearance, Alberg quickly discovers it harbors numerous hidden secrets and a troubling pattern of murders. His investigation skills become essential as he works to solve crimes in this seemingly peaceful setting. Running parallel to his detective work is his evolving romance with Cassandra Lee (Kreuk), the town librarian, which faces complications as her professional responsibilities and community engagement pull her in unexpected directions.

"We love bringing this cozy and delightful mystery to Fox fans, and we're thrilled Murder in a Small Town has continued to resonate with our audience," shared Brooke Bowman from Fox. "We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Sepia Films and Future Shack on Season Three, alongside our exceptional cast led by Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk and soon to include the incomparable talent of Peter Gallagher as their newest adversary."
