Matthew Bellamy Opens Up About Split from Elle Evans

Matthew Bellamy is speaking openly about his separation from Elle Evans, marking the first time the Muse frontman has addressed the split publicly.

Speculation about the couple's breakup emerged in February 2026, and now Bellamy is breaking his silence. In an interview with The I Paper, the 48-year-old musician described the separation as challenging to articulate.

"It's one of those situations that involves something that people wouldn't normally think it is," Bellamy explained. "It was a set of really unexpected circumstances. It's the kind of thing no one really prepares for in life. It threw me off, and I had to prioritize looking after the kids and creating stability at home."

Bellamy and Evans, 36, began dating in summer 2015 before getting engaged in December 2017. They married in August 2019 and share two children: daughter Lovella, 6, and son George, 2.

The musician revealed that Muse's latest album, The Wow! Signal, took shape during this turbulent chapter of his life. "I was right in the depths of this life-changing experience. And it was just – boom. It would just pour out of me," he said of the creative process. "It might have been the easiest album for me to make, because it was such a catharsis. It became a lifeline for me."
