NASCAR Indefinitely Suspends 23XI Racing Employee Following Alleged Golf Cart Incident

NASCAR has indefinitely suspended Evanna Howell, a 35-year-old senior account manager with 23XI Racing, the racing organization announced Wednesday.
The suspension comes after an alleged incident over the weekend preceding the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. According to a NASCAR statement released May 27, Howell was suspended for "behavioral" reasons.
Court records from Cabarrus County indicate that Howell was arrested Saturday, May 23. The arrest warrant alleges she used a golf cart to assault a 77-year-old man, resulting in a severe laceration. She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury.
Howell posted a $125,000 bond and was released from Cabarrus County jail on Tuesday, May 26. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear at this time.
Howell previously received recognition in the sport, earning the NASCAR Partner Award during the 2024 NASCAR Drive for Diversity Awards.
23XI Racing, which is owned and operated by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, has not issued a public statement regarding the suspension.
