NBC Axes 'Brilliant Minds' and 'Stumble' Ahead of 2026-2027 Season

'Brilliant Minds' and 'Stumble' have been canceled by NBC as the network continues its upfront planning for the 2026-2027 television season.
The network made the announcement on Friday, May 1, pulling the plug on both series. The medical drama 'Brilliant Minds,' headlined by Zachary Quinto, struggled to find an audience despite occupying the coveted Monday night slot following 'The Voice.' The show experienced double-digit declines in viewership and ranked as NBC's lowest-rated drama series on linear television.
The cheerleading sitcom 'Stumble,' which stars Jenn Lyon, faced similar challenges. Though the series garnered positive reception from both critics and viewers, its ratings performance ultimately sealed its fate after spending considerable time on the network's bubble.
Six remaining episodes of 'Brilliant Minds' will air beginning May 27 to conclude the series. Both shows' episodes are available to stream on Peacock.
The cancellations leave two additional scripted series in uncertain territory between the long-running 'Law & Order' and second-season entry 'The Hunting Party.' Meanwhile, the midseason comedy 'The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,' which features Daniel Radcliffe and Tracy Morgan, is expected to secure a renewal.
