Netflix Unveils First Cast Photos from 'Scooby-Doo: Origins' Live-Action Series
Netflix is giving fans their first glimpse at the cast of its forthcoming live-action take on Scooby-Doo: Origins. The streaming giant released initial photos from the set as production kicked off in Atlanta.
The ensemble features Mckenna Grace in the role of Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, and Paul Walter Hauser rounding out the cast.
The series reimagines the classic teen mystery-solvers and their canine companion for a new generation. Set during their final summer at camp, the story centers on childhood friends Shaggy and Daphne as they stumble upon a haunting case involving a lost Great Dane puppy—a potential witness to a supernatural murder. They're joined by Velma, a scientific-minded newcomer to the area, and Freddy, a mysterious and charming recent arrival. As the four investigate, they find themselves drawn deeper into a terrifying mystery with the power to unearth each of their closely guarded secrets.
With production now underway, the show is targeted for a late 2026 or 2027 launch window on the platform.
The project has already drawn support from Sarah Michelle Gellar, who originated the role of Daphne in the early 2000s live-action Scooby-Doo films. Upon learning of Grace's casting, Gellar took to Instagram Stories to express her enthusiasm. "You are going to be perfect!!" she wrote.
