First Look: 'Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody' Takes the Stage at NYC Off-Broadway Theater

Jay Armstrong Johnson and Jimin Moon are front and center in newly released production stills from the off-Broadway musical parody Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody, which officially premiered on Tuesday, May 26, at 6th Floor Theater at The Culture Club in New York City.

The images surfaced just hours before the show's opening night debut. The production takes comedic inspiration from the acclaimed hockey-themed series, following the character Shane Hollander through his evolution from power center to power bottom. The synopsis promises audiences an intimate, small-stage experience with Broadway performers who auditioned believing they were joining Season 2 of the original show.

Joining Johnson and Moon in the cast are Ryann Redmond, Cherry Torres, and Ryan Duncan, with Shelby Acosta and Daniel Brackett serving as standbys.

The musical marks a fresh partnership with Canada Dry Ginger Ale, which will integrate its product both on-stage and throughout the theater. According to the collaboration announcement, ginger ale serves as a symbolic element of comfort and connection within the show's narrative, with custom drink offerings available to enhance the fan experience.

Originally scheduled for an eight-week run through July, the production has expanded its engagement and will now continue through September 7. Tickets are available through HeatedRivalryParody.com.
