New York Knicks to Visit White House After NBA Championship Victory

The New York Knicks are heading to the White House.

Team owner James Dolan announced on Wednesday during an appearance on WFAN New York radio that the Knicks have accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump following their recent NBA Championship triumph. While specifics about timing and logistics remain to be finalized, Dolan expressed enthusiasm about the visit.

"We just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted," Dolan said on the June 17 broadcast. "We still have to figure out the details, et cetera, but yes, of course. Look, I invited the President to come down for the game. He is a friend. I've known him for 30 years and I'm very proud to bring the team to the White House."

The acceptance represents a notable shift in championship team responses to White House invitations. Every NBA champion crowned during Trump's current tenure has previously declined his invitations—a list that includes the Golden State Warriors, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Oklahoma City Thunder. Three teams accepted invitations during Joe Biden's presidency.

Dolan has long been an outspoken Trump supporter. He attended game three of the NBA Finals from the president's suite, which happened to be the sole game the Knicks lost during the championship series.
