Nick Jonas Supports 'Power Ballad' at LA Screening as Paul Rudd Opens Up About Singing Jitters

Nick Jonas stepped out to promote his latest film project this week, making an appearance at an exclusive screening event in Los Angeles.
The 33-year-old performer attended a tastemaker presentation of Power Ballad on Thursday at the Linwood Dunn Theater, bringing along Grammy-nominated collaborator Justin Tranter. The pair have maintained a long working relationship, having partnered on multiple ventures throughout Jonas's career.
Jonas kept things relaxed for the occasion, opting for a casual streetwear aesthetic. His ensemble featured a burgundy corduroy bomber jacket from Polo Ralph Lauren, layered over a button-down shirt and paired with dark-wash jeans and leather boots.
Meanwhile, his on-screen partner Paul Rudd recently discussed the challenges of taking on musical responsibilities in the production. Speaking with People, Rudd reflected on the experience of performing alongside Jonas and working with filmmaker John Carney, noting that the singing aspect felt more genuine than previous film roles he'd held.
"I'd sung in movies before, but it was always silly — you get a lot of leeway. This was real, actual singing. I was doing it with you and John Carney, who's a musician himself. This job is always nerve-wracking. Acting, singing — you're putting yourself out there, so you close your eyes and jump in the deep end," Rudd shared.
In Power Ballad, Rudd portrays Rick, a wedding singer whose best days appear to be behind him. His character performs at a ceremony where Jonas's character Danny—a former boy band member—is in attendance. The two form an unexpected connection that becomes complicated when Danny appropriates one of Rick's compositions. The song skyrockets to success, reviving Danny's fortunes while propelling Rick toward a quest for payback.
The film is currently available in theaters.
