Nick Jonas Steps Out in NYC as 'Power Ballad' Trailer Premieres
Nick Jonas made a casual appearance in New York City on Thursday, exiting a hotel in laid-back attire. The 33-year-old entertainer wore a jacket layered over a hoodie, paired with a baseball cap, green track pants, and checkered Vans sneakers as he headed toward an awaiting vehicle.
The same day marked the release of a fresh trailer for his upcoming film, "Power Ballad," which arrives in theaters May 29.
The movie follows Rick, a washed-up wedding vocalist portrayed by Paul Rudd, who crosses paths with Danny, a former boy-band member played by Jonas, during a performance. The two develop a connection over their shared passion for music and an impromptu late-night session. When Danny transforms one of Rick's compositions into a chart-topping success that revitalizes his own career, Rick becomes determined to reclaim the credit he feels entitled to—even if doing so jeopardizes everything meaningful to him.
The cast also includes Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu, and Jack Reynor. John Carney directs and co-writes alongside Peter.
Beyond the film's debut, Jonas has several projects in motion. He recently wrapped work on a holiday horror feature and announced an upcoming concert series titled "A Night With Nick," comprising six performances across the East Coast in Maryland, Niagara Falls, North Carolina, Georgia, and New Jersey.
On Wednesday, he shared details about the shows on Instagram, noting his desire to create an intimate experience drawing from his catalog across multiple eras. "I've been wanting to do a run like this for a while. Something that feels a little closer, playing through different releases from over the years. A few of my favorites, a lot of your favorites and sharing the stories behind them as we go," he wrote.
Presale tickets are available through NickJonas.com, with general ticket sales opening Friday at 10 a.m. ET.
Additionally, Jonas is set to headline a Netflix romantic comedy currently in development. The untitled project centers on a lifelong bachelor whose carefree existence takes an unexpected turn when he inherits his cousin's infant child. His newfound parental journey becomes complicated when the child's godmother emerges during the holiday season seeking custody, sparking an unforeseen romance. Ari Sandel is directing, Tamara Chestna wrote the screenplay, and Jonas is also serving as a producer on the film.
