Nika King Takes the Cuts in Stride After 'Euphoria' Return Gets Whittled Down to Single Line

Nika King got more than she bargained for when her highly anticipated comeback to Euphoria aired Sunday, May 17—a return that ultimately boiled down to a single spoken line.
The actress, who plays Rue's mother, shared screen time with Zendaya during a phone conversation, though the bulk of the dialogue fell to the lead. As the call wrapped, Nika's character Leslie simply told Rue that she loved her.
The brevity of the appearance didn't go unnoticed. King took to Instagram to process the moment, with her own mother chiming in from the background. "Wait y'all. I just watched the episode that I've been promoting all week… and my mom over here is clowning me! She said the internet waited all this time for me to just say one line," King shared, noting that three years had passed since her last appearance on the show in 2022.
Rather than dwell on the disappointment, King leaned into the humor of the situation. "Y'all I can't do nothing but laugh at this. When your mama clown you. It's… I don't know. You better be glad I have a sense of humor. You better be glad I've got thick skin," she wrote.
She later clarified that the limited screen time wasn't the only footage she'd shot. In a follow-up post, King revealed that scenes had been cut from the episode. She opened up about one particular moment that resonated with her personally—when she walked onto set and encountered a Bible on a table.
"I got emotional. Not as Leslie, but as Nika," she explained. "Because there have been so many times in my life where all I could sit down and open the Word and ask TMH to help me keep going. People they don't always see the prayers behind the scenes. The silent tears. The waiting. The moments where you feel overlooked, tired or unsure about what TMH is doing next BUT KEEP TRUSTING HIM."
