Norah O'Donnell's Brief Interjection Sparks Online Reaction During Trump 60 Minutes Interview
A 60 Minutes interview featuring Norah O'Donnell and President Trump has generated significant social media buzz, particularly around a brief exchange between the two.
The 79-year-old president sat down with O'Donnell on Sunday evening (April 26) to discuss the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner held at the Washington Hilton.
During their conversation, O'Donnell brought up a manifesto allegedly written by the gunman. She read portions of it aloud to Trump, including the phrases "Administration officials, they are targets" and "I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes."
O'Donnell asked for Trump's reaction to these statements.
Trump responded forcefully, saying the author was "a sick person" and told O'Donnell, "You should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I'm not any of those things." He continued, "Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because…you're horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I'm– I'm not a rapist. I didn't rape anybody."
O'Donnell then offered a brief follow-up that has since circulated widely online: "Oh you think– do you think he was referring to you?"
Trump proceeded to defend himself further, stating, "I'm not a pedophile. Excuse me. Excuse me. I'm not a pedophile. You read that crap from some sick person? I got associated with all– stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated. Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, little's say, Epstein or other things."
The exchange has drawn considerable attention on social platforms, with viewers zeroing in on O'Donnell's pointed interjection.
