Horror Film 'Obsession' Gets Red-Carpet Treatment at Los Angeles Premiere Event

The ensemble behind Focus Features' latest horror offering came together at an exclusive screening event in Los Angeles on Monday evening.

Director and screenwriter Curry Barker, alongside actors Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter, attended the special presentation held at the Hollywood Legion Theater on May 11.

The film follows a romantic protagonist who discovers a mysterious "One Wish Willow" and uses it to win over their love interest—only to find that fulfilling their desire unleashes something far more sinister and dangerous.

Barker previously made waves with his directorial debut, Milk & Serial, a found-footage feature that premiered in 2024. The project generated considerable critical praise and industry buzz, particularly after Barker made the full film available for free on YouTube.

Obsession is already generating similar momentum with critics. The horror entry has amassed a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from over 70 reviews, signaling strong reception from the critical community.

The genre continues to thrive, with Warner Bros. recently unveiling release dates for several upcoming horror projects, including a Weapons prequel centered on the character Gladys and a new installment in the Evil Dead franchise.
