Elle Kennedy Discusses Her Favorite Adaptations from 'Off Campus' Book to Prime Video Series

Elle Kennedy is opening up about the Prime Video series Off Campus and the creative choices behind bringing her work to the screen.

The 44-year-old author wrote "The Deal," the novel that serves as the foundation for the television adaptation and kicks off her five-book hockey romance series. During a recent TikTok Q&A, Kennedy fielded fan questions about how the show departed from her original story.

When asked which changes resonated most with her, Kennedy pointed to a significant character shift. "I love that Justin is a musician now, I think it makes a lot of sense," she explained to a follower.

Kennedy also highlighted another adaptation she found particularly compelling. "Loved loved loved Allie and Dean's JLo/maverick dance and them having this wild tension even before their hookup," she shared, noting that in the book version, "the hookup happens right off the bat."

The series, which was renewed for a second season before even premiering, continues to generate buzz around its casting and direction. Questions remain about whether Josh Heuston will reprise his role as Justin in the upcoming second installment, with speculation surrounding which couple will take center stage next.

Actress Ella Bright, who plays Hannah Wells, recently offered hints about the show's second season focus. The show's creator has previously discussed another major narrative shift between the first season and Kennedy's original novel.
