Olivia Rodrigo Scores Massive Chart Victory With 'You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love' Debut

Olivia Rodrigo has reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
The 23-year-old artist's third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, arrived on June 12 and immediately took the No. 1 position. The project generated 485,000 equivalent album units during its opening week, according to Luminate data.
The numbers represent a career high for Rodrigo in terms of units sold. It's also the largest week of 2026 for any solo musician to date.
This chart triumph follows her previous No. 1 albums SOUR (2021) and GUTS (2023). The new album has already produced two major hits: "drop dead" reached No. 1, while "the cure" landed at No. 5.
Beyond the overall chart performance, the album's opening week set multiple records. It marks Rodrigo's best sales week ever and stands as the largest sales week for any woman in 2026. The project also achieved the biggest streaming week of 2026 by a female artist and the largest vinyl week of 2026 for a woman.
Standout tracks from the album are already resonating with listeners. "cigarette smoke" has emerged as one of the most emotionally impactful songs, with fans diving into what the track might represent. Another song on the album draws inspiration from Sex & The City, while a separate offering appears to reference the conclusion of a relationship.
