Olivia Rodrigo brought production activity to the streets of Manhattan on Tuesday, May 26, as the 23-year-old artist filmed what appears to be a new music video in uptown New York City. The shoot featured an ensemble of ballet dancers working alongside the singer-songwriter.

The filming comes on the heels of Rodrigo's recent music video release for "The Cure," a track from her forthcoming third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, arriving June 12.

Earlier in the week, Rodrigo held a special screening and intimate Q&A session at The Metrograph on Thursday evening, May 22. The New York City event drew fans who lined the block outside the theater, where attendees enjoyed Rodrigo-themed cocktails and light refreshments.

In discussing "The Cure," Rodrigo shared that the song serves as the foundational statement for her new album. "This song is the thesis statement of you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love and it made the whole album click for me," she tweeted upon its release.

Speaking with iHeartRadio, she expanded on the song's themes, explaining that it explores how younger people often believe romantic love can resolve all their personal struggles. "It's kind of like the climax of the record," she said. "It's just sort of about how, when you're younger, you think falling in love with someone will fix all of your problems. And then I think when you face love in reality, you realize that that's not the truth. So this is just me coming to terms with things that I wanted to be fixed about myself or things that I thought that love would solve. And lo and behold, it didn't. So I wrote a song about it."

Rodrigo has tour dates scheduled for later in 2026, though all performances have already sold out.
