Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift have been the subject of feud rumors for years, though recent sightings suggest the two may have moved past any tension between them.

In the early days of Rodrigo's music career, Swift served as a vocal champion for the emerging artist. Their public exchanges cooled off after Rodrigo added Swift to the writing credits for "Deja Vu," which occurred roughly four months following the song's initial release.

Speculation mounted that Swift had flagged potential copyright concerns, claiming the track bore too much resemblance to her own "Cruel Summer." According to reporting from 2021, the situation appeared to have been settled discreetly through private negotiations, a common outcome for copyright-related disputes of this nature.

The two musicians were spotted together at a Paul McCartney concert in Los Angeles in March 2026, suggesting their connection may have warmed in recent times.

During an appearance on New York Times' Popcast, Rodrigo addressed the ongoing chatter surrounding her dynamic with Swift.

"I don't really read that far into it," she explained. "I think it comes with the territory, and it's par for the course. I think if I dove into every internet detective sleuth that got things right or wrong about my life or any of my relationships, I think I'd just go crazy. There's just not enough time in the day."

Rodrigo also reflected on the frenzy that erupted when she released "Driver's License," when fans spun elaborate theories connecting the track to a rumored love triangle involving Joshua Bassett and Sabrina Carpenter.

"I had to detach from it in order to literally be OK," she said. "It was just such a crazy experience for everyone involved. Yeah, I think I just had to learn to detach, and I think that's something that I'm hopefully good at these days, still trying to detach from people who don't know every little detail of my life. I think you just have to, otherwise you just go kind of crazy."

In a 2023 interview with The Guardian, Rodrigo previously denied that her song "Vampire" was about Swift.

"I was very surprised when people thought that," she stated at the time. "I mean, I never want to say who any of my songs are about. I've never done that before in my career and probably won't. I think it's better to not pigeonhole a song to being about this one thing."

Rodrigo's recent conversation also touched on the babydoll dress controversy.
