Olivia Rodrigo Makes SNL Hosting Debut, Jokes About New Album and Jake Paul Connection

Olivia Rodrigo stepped into the hosting chair at Saturday Night Live for the first time on Saturday night, May 2, while also serving as the evening's musical guest.
The 23-year-old performer used her opening monologue to touch on several aspects of her career and upcoming projects. She opened by highlighting her album progression, noting that her first two releases were titled SOUR and GUTS before revealing her new project arriving next month: you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
"I have a new album out next month," she explained to the audience. "My last two albums were called SOUR and GUTS, and this new one is called you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. So, I learned more words, guys!"
Rodrigo also reflected on her early work in entertainment, tracing her path from a childhood Old Navy commercial through her time on the Disney Channel. She specifically recalled her experience on the series Bizaardvark, where she worked alongside Jake Paul.
"When I was 13, I was on a Disney show called Bizaardvark, and we had an incredible cast, which included acting legend Jake Paul," she shared. "And we'd always talk about our futures, me and Jake. I'd say, 'I really wanna create music that explores the complexities of girls my age,' and he'd say, 'Well, one day I really wanna beat up old guys on Netflix.'"
"And we both did it, hooray!" she concluded with a laugh.
The monologue also featured a musical moment in which Rodrigo humorously sang about the process of obtaining her Real ID, riffing on the style of her breakthrough debut single.
