Olivia Wilde Addresses Viral Red Carpet Moment With Humor and Sibling Ribbing

Olivia Wilde is taking the viral moment in stride.
The 42-year-old actor and filmmaker weighed in on a screenshot that circulated online following her recent attendance at the 2026 San Francisco International Film Festival last month. The image, captured during a red carpet interview with SFGATE, prompted viewers to remark on her appearance.
Rather than ignore the buzz, Wilde addressed it head-on in a video posted to her Instagram Story on Sunday, May 3, featuring her brother Charles Cockburn posing the question: "Olivia Wilde, do you care to address recent rumors that you're a resurrected corpse?" The clip also included a side-by-side comparison with Gollum from The Lord of the Rings.
Wilde offered her explanation with good humor, attributing the striking image to technical factors. "Listen, that is a fisheye lens. And I admit, is that my best angle? Was that my best ever look? No, it's a startling image," she said in the video.
She went on to acknowledge her proximity to the camera during the interview, noting it wasn't a necessary choice. "I don't know why I was so close to the camera. I didn't have to be. That's not the truth," she added with a laugh, before concluding: "I'm not dead."
In her caption, Wilde poked fun at her sibling's comedic approach, writing: "Leave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of s–t."
