Pam Bondi is navigating a major life transition, having received a thyroid cancer diagnosis while stepping into a new role within the Trump administration.

The 60-year-old former Attorney General disclosed her health situation to CNN, revealing that she recently had surgery and is currently undergoing treatment. "I'm doing well," she told the network about her recovery.

Bondi's diagnosis came after Trump dismissed her from the Attorney General position in April. The president communicated the decision tersely, with sources saying he told her "I think it's time" as they traveled toward the Supreme Court.

Despite her health challenges, Bondi is maintaining her professional commitments. She is scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Friday, May 29, to testify as part of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

Beyond her testimony plans, Trump has appointed Bondi to an advisory committee dedicated to artificial intelligence policy, according to Axios. Vice President JD Vance praised the move, telling CNN: "Pam has been an enormously valuable asset to the president's team, and I'm thrilled for her and for all of us that she's going to remain involved in confronting some of the most important issues the administration faces."

Earlier in 2026, Bondi was subpoenaed to provide testimony regarding the Department of Justice's investigation into Epstein. She subsequently submitted a letter asserting that all materials from the Epstein Files had been released in February.
