Pat McAfee and Wife Samantha Welcome Baby Boy After Emergency C-Section

Pat McAfee is welcoming his second child into the world. The 39-year-old sports analyst shared the news on Monday, May 25, revealing that his wife Samantha gave birth to their son, Midas Robert McAfee, this past Friday evening.
The couple, married since August 2020, previously welcomed their daughter Mackenzie in May 2023. Their new arrival made his debut on May 22nd at 10:42 PM, weighing in at 6 pounds 6 ounces.
McAfee detailed the circumstances of Midas' birth on Instagram, explaining that Samantha's high-risk pregnancy and severe preeclampsia prompted doctors to perform an emergency C-section. Born at 36 weeks—four weeks before full term—Midas required time in the NICU to develop his lungs and adjust to life outside the womb.
"Baby boy entered the world on May 22nd at 10:42PM as a 6lb 6oz screaming young legend.. 10 Toes, 10 Fingers, full head of hair," McAfee wrote, noting that in his first moments, Midas was able to achieve sufficient oxygen levels to spend time in the family's hospital room for initial bonding.
The newborn was placed on a CPAP machine, given a feeding tube, and kept in a heated pod with a warming lamp to support his transition. McAfee spent time between both his wife's recovery area and his son's NICU unit, providing encouragement as Samantha healed from surgery.
"Watching Samantha battle thru her recovery has been nothing short of inspiring," McAfee shared, expressing gratitude for his wife's strength throughout the ordeal. After approximately 36 hours in the NICU, Midas was cleared to return to his parents' room, prompting what McAfee described as a full celebration.
Since his release from the NICU, Midas has been sleeping, feeding, and settling into life outside the hospital. The family is preparing to return home to meet their three-year-old daughter, with grandparents having supported Mackenzie during her parents' hospital stay.
"We can't wait for her to meet her brother," McAfee wrote, thanking family members and followers for their support during the experience.
