Patrick Brammall's portrayal of Andy Sachs's boyfriend in The Devil Wears Prada 2 has drawn considerable backlash from viewers, with many questioning the purpose of his character in the narrative.

Unlike Adrian Grenier's antagonistic boyfriend role in the original film, Brammall's Peter has been labeled superfluous by audiences. Cosmopolitan magazine highlighted the character's minimal development in a social media post, noting that viewers learn only that he is Australian, works in construction, is divorced, and appears to have romantic feelings for Andy.

The publication questioned the character's place in the story with its headline, prompting a response from Brammall's real-life spouse, actress Harriet Dyer.

Dyer and Brammall met in 2017 while collaborating on the series No Activity. They married in March 2021 following a remarkably brief five-day engagement. The couple has two daughters together—one adopted in September 2021 and another born in February 2025. Dyer has since built her own career, co-creating and starring alongside her husband in Colin from Accounts, and appearing in the CBS comedy DMV, which wraps up its single-season run in May 2026.

Taking to Instagram, Dyer defended her husband's work on the sequel. She commented on Cosmopolitan's post, explaining that substantial portions of Brammall's scenes had been removed during editing. She specifically referenced a dance sequence filmed with Hathaway through New York City streets that was ultimately cut from the theatrical release, noting that the scene appeared to be heading toward Irv Ravitz's birthday celebration.

"Mean post. They cut scenes out. The edit is brutal. The scene all these pictures are from was cut. I liked him. And I married him," Dyer wrote.
