The Beatles icon Paul McCartney was initially approached to be the subject of the special, according to new reports. Comedian and executive producer Jeff Ross shared his thoughts on the potential project with Variety, saying, "We did ask Paul McCartney at one point. To me, that would be a fantasy roast. Paul McCartney doesn't need anything, but a Paul McCartney roast would be good for the world. It would be so funny to me because he is so loved."

The reasons behind McCartney's decision to pass on the opportunity remain unclear.

Hart's roast turned out to be a star-studded affair, drawing a massive crowd of celebrities and generating countless jokes throughout the evening—with some material not even making it into the final broadcast.
