Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas Bring 'Power Ballad' to New York City for Fan Event

Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas traveled to New York City this week to celebrate their latest collaboration, the Lionsgate musical comedy-drama "Power Ballad."
The pair, along with director and co-writer John Carney, participated in an In Conversation event at 92NY on Monday, May 18, where they sat down with moderator Josh Horowitz to discuss the film ahead of its theatrical release.
Rudd, 57, takes on the role of Rick, a wedding singer whose best days are behind him. Jonas, 33, plays Danny, a former boy-band frontman whose career has also faded. When the two characters meet during a performance, they forge a connection through music and share an impromptu late-night session. The dynamic shifts when Danny transforms one of Rick's original compositions into a chart-topping success, prompting Rick to pursue what he feels is rightfully his—a quest that threatens to upend everything he holds dear.
Carney brings considerable pedigree to the project, having previously directed "Sing Street" and "Once." He penned the screenplay alongside Peter McDonald.
The film arrives in theaters on May 29. Separately, Jonas has also joined the cast of the horror thriller "White Elephant" alongside Kathryn Newton, a project announced last month.
