Perfect Match Star Marissa George Secretly Marries Former Boyfriend D. Johnson in Savannah Elopement

Marissa George has walked down the aisle.
The Perfect Match season four star recently announced that she's married to D. Johnson, a man she previously dated over a decade ago. The couple reconnected in November 2025, just as production on the Netflix dating series concluded, according to People magazine.
George explained that she and Johnson first met and began dating in 2013. Though they felt a strong connection at the time, geographic distance ultimately pulled them apart. "We were young and lived states away from each other, so the distance just didn't work at the time," she shared.
Over the subsequent years, the two maintained an unexpected pattern. "Over the last 13 years, we somehow always found our way back to each other," George said. "Anytime we were both single, we'd reconnect and it was always clear the feelings never really left. Even our mutual friends would always say, 'If the timing ever works out, they're going to end up together.'"
The rekindled relationship moved quickly. After getting engaged on February 21st, George and Johnson exchanged vows exactly one month later on March 21st. The ceremony took place in Savannah, Georgia, as an intimate elopement attended by their parents, siblings, and close friends.
"Eventually, after years spent being each other's 'what if,' we got to a point where we were like, 'Screw the distance, this is worth it,'" George reflected.
For George, the commitment represents a significant emotional milestone. "The day I said 'I do,' I felt this immense responsibility in the most beautiful way. Not pressure, but clarity. Like, this is serious. This is real partnership. I can't play games and I don't want to," she explained. "It's not that I didn't take past relationships seriously, but I honestly don't think I fully understood what a healthy love was supposed to feel like until now. And once you experience a love that feels peaceful, grounding, safe, and freeing all at once, it completely changes you."
She further described the relationship's foundation. "What's so special about our relationship is how safe it feels. I've never had someone love me in a way that also made me feel so free to fully be myself," George said. "[He] has loved me through so many versions of myself and has created space for me to continue growing, learning, changing, and evolving without shame or judgment. In so many ways, he's helped heal parts of me that I didn't even fully realize still needed healing."
Looking ahead, the newlyweds plan to relocate to Japan in the near future and will host a larger wedding celebration next year.
George's appearance on Perfect Match came after her previous reality television stint on Love Is Blind season seven, where she became engaged to Ramses Prashad before being blindsided days before their scheduled wedding. Most recently on Perfect Match, she was coupled with DeMari Davis, known from Too Hot to Handle.
Despite her public dating journey across multiple Netflix series, George expressed gratitude for the personal growth she's experienced. "I cherish what [my husband and I] have so deeply. Which is honestly why I can now watch myself on Netflix, see all the growth and mistakes and lessons, and still feel proud of the woman I've become," she told People. "Because this relationship didn't just give me love, it helped me understand myself more too."
She also highlighted the contrast between her televised romantic experiences and her current private life. "And after such a public experience with dating and relationships, it's been really beautiful having something that feels so real and private at its core," George said. "He's truly my best friend and I genuinely feel so lucky that after all this time, timing finally chose us too."
