Rachel Bloom is reflecting on ABC's decision to pass on her comedy pilot, "Do You Want Kids?"

The 39-year-old "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" creator took to Instagram on Thursday to address the network's choice not to proceed with the project. According to reports, the single-camera pilot—which explored a Sliding Doors-style narrative about multiple timelines in a couple's life—received mixed reactions at the network, with its prospects considered uncertain at best.

In her post, Bloom opened up about the emotional weight of losing a creative project. "Since people – including myself – mostly use this place primarily to post about success, I want to give a shout out to my other buddy, Failure," she wrote.

The actress explained that when a project doesn't come to fruition, the disappointment extends beyond the show itself. "When a project dies, I mourn multiple things. I mourn the project itself, but I also mourn the life I thought I was going to lead with the project becoming a reality," she shared.

Bloom detailed the timeline she had envisioned for the series, which would have unfolded throughout the year. She had anticipated traveling to New York in May for the network's Upfronts presentation, assembling a writing staff based in Los Angeles, and beginning production in August through October. "We had so many episode ideas, multiple season arcs," she noted.

Despite the setback, Bloom emphasized her resilience. "Over the past 6 years I've mourned multiple failures, multiple timelines. But I never mourn the work," she concluded.

Looking ahead, Bloom has several projects in the pipeline. She will appear in RuPaul's "Stop! That! Train!" and lend her voice to "The Angry Birds Movie 3." She's also currently starring in "The Devil Wears Prada 2," where she plays a friend of Andy, with the film set to release on May 1.
