Rachel Zegler and Ben Platt are taking their creative partnership to the big screen.

The pair recently collaborated on a staged concert production of The Last Five Years, which toured London, New York, and Los Angeles. Now they're set to work together on the upcoming film Last Dance, with Adrien Brody also joining the cast.

The 25-year-old Olivier award-winning performer will lead the project as the female lead, while the 32-year-old Tony award-winning actor will co-star. Beyond their on-screen roles, the two will also contribute to the film's musical landscape—Platt will compose original music for the picture, while Zegler will perform vocals.

Last Dance draws from Emily Ziff Griffin's autobiographical article of the same name, published in The New Yorker. Griffin also penned the screenplay, with Karim Aïnouz directing.

The film follows Elliot, a celebrated Broadway composer portrayed by Brody, who takes his daughter Emma, played by Zegler, on a Caribbean cruise in 1991. Set against a backdrop of music, celebration, and chosen family, the journey takes an unexpected turn when Emma meets a young crew member. However, the AIDS crisis looms throughout their voyage, ultimately forcing father and daughter to reckon with difficult truths between them as time grows short.

During their Los Angeles performance of The Last Five Years, Zegler and Platt revealed that a live album capturing their concert will be released.

Both performers made appearances at the 2026 Met Gala earlier this week. Zegler wore a look paying homage to the painting of Lady Jane Grey, while Platt's ensemble drew inspiration from Georges Seurat's A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Zegler is also slated to return to Broadway in 2027.
