Netflix is bringing fans inside the world of Rafael Nadal with an upcoming documentary series that promises rare insight into one of sports' most celebrated figures.

The four-part series, titled RAFA, launches on May 29 and follows the 39-year-old tennis champion through his storied career. The documentary provides "unprecedented access to one of the most admired athletes of all time, revealing not only the moments that defined his career, but also the unseen effort that sustained a champion for more than two decades."

The project traces Nadal's journey from his earliest days in the sport—beginning at age three—through his competitive return in 2024. Rather than focusing solely on his triumphs, the series examines the toll his career has taken physically and emotionally, positioning his body as his greatest ongoing challenge throughout his playing life.

According to the official synopsis, the documentary blends firsthand accounts from those closest to him with previously unseen footage that humanizes the legend. It revisits pivotal moments including his dominance at Roland Garros and his historic rivalry with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, while also exploring the pressure, pain, and determination that kept him competing even as injuries threatened to end his time at the top.

Director Zach Heinzerling commented on the experience of making the series: "With Rafa's story, triumph is expected; what surprised me was his willingness to reveal the uncertainty and vulnerability behind that greatness."

The series follows Nadal alongside the team that supported his career, showcasing the dedication and sacrifice required to maintain his elite status in professional tennis.
