Mason Thames and McKenna Grace to Star Together in Coming-of-Age Road Trip Comedy 'Nimrods'

Mason Thames and McKenna Grace are joining forces once again for their latest film project together. The real-life couple previously bonded while filming Regretting You and have now teamed up for the comedy Nimrods, originally titled New Year's Rev.

The film follows three high school friends as they embark on an adventurous road trip, operating under the false belief that their garage band has landed a coveted opening slot for Green Day on New Year's Eve. The ensemble cast includes Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Sean Gunn, Bobby Lee, and Fred Armisen. Lee Kirk wrote and directed the project.

The film draws inspiration from the real experiences of Green Day members, chronicling their early days living in a van before their debut album achieved mainstream success. Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool, and Mike Dirnt appear in the film and perform music for the soundtrack.

Following its premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, Nimrods has secured distribution in the United States through Inaugural Entertainment. Additionally, Palisades Park Pictures announced that international sales will commence this month in advance of the Cannes Film Festival.
