Richard Madden marked a major milestone this week by stepping back onto Instagram to commemorate his 40th birthday.

The Golden Globe-winning actor posted a collection of images on Saturday, June 20, capturing moments from his birthday festivities. One snapshot showed him beaming at the camera while sporting a "40" badge as someone presented him with a cake. A second image featured Madden holding oversized "4" and "0" balloons.

"Just gettin started," he captioned the photos.

Madden officially turned 40 on Thursday, June 18. The Game of Thrones and Eternals actor typically keeps his Instagram activity limited to work-related content, making personal life updates a rare occurrence on the platform.

His most recent post before the birthday celebration came last month, when he shared a selfie alongside his manager Duncan Millership from an outdoor screening of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial hosted by Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Currently, Madden is keeping busy with multiple projects. Season two of his Prime Video series Citadel is currently streaming, and he's also in production on the upcoming Netflix series Trinity.
