Scott Speedman Locked In for Two ABC Shows as 'R.J. Decker' Earns Season 2 Renewal

ABC's freshman series R.J. Decker has secured a second season, cementing Scott Speedman's presence across two of the network's shows heading into the 2026-27 season.
The renewal represents a significant milestone for ABC: all of the network's scripted programming has now been greenlit for additional seasons, with no cancellations among the slate. (One show did face the axe this year, though it appears the cancellation may be reversible.)
The crime drama centers on a former newspaper photographer and ex-convict who pursues a new path as a private investigator navigating the vibrant yet dangerous landscape of South Florida. His character takes on cases ranging from peculiar to downright outlandish, working alongside a journalist ex-partner, her police detective wife, and an enigmatic woman from his past who could prove to be either his greatest asset or the key to his return behind bars.
Beyond his leading role in R.J. Decker, Speedman maintains a recurring presence on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Nick Marsh. In the most recent episode of the long-running medical drama, his character faced a harrowing ordeal after sustaining injuries in a bridge collapse. Following emergency surgery and his awakening in the hospital, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) delivered an intimate moment, leaning in to tell him, "Marry me."
Speedman's dual roles position him prominently across ABC's primetime schedule for the coming year.
