Ronda Rousey Stuns in Comeback Victory Over Gina Carano on Netflix

Ronda Rousey reclaimed her place in the MMA spotlight on Saturday night with a lightning-quick victory over Gina Carano in the main event of the MVP MMA showcase, which streamed live on Netflix from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
The matchup marked a significant milestone for both fighters. For Rousey, it was her first competitive bout in a decade, while Carano stepped into the cage for the first time since 2009.
The fight itself proved brief and decisive. Rousey wasted no time establishing control, executing a takedown moments after the opening bell sounded. She quickly transitioned to a dominant position before unleashing a series of strikes. Within seconds, Rousey locked her opponent in an armbar, prompting a tap-out and ending the contest in just 17 seconds—marking her ninth career victory to come in under a minute.
Despite the swift conclusion, the two competitors maintained a cordial relationship after the bout, embracing in the ring as the crowd took in the spectacle.
"Gina is the person who brought me into MMA and the only person who could have brought me back into MMA," Rousey reflected on her victory. "You changed my world and we changed the world. I was hoping to come out as unscathed as possible because I didn't really want to hurt her. Luckily, it was just beautiful martial arts, that's what I think that efficiency is."
When asked about her future in the sport, Rousey made clear that this comeback was a one-time affair. "There's no way I could have ended it better than this," she stated. "I want to have some more babies, and I've got to get cooking."
Carano, by contrast, expressed openness to additional fights down the line. She noted that facing an Olympic judo medalist like Rousey presented a particular challenge, and suggested a matchup against a striker might have produced a different outcome. "I wanted that to last longer," she said. "I felt like I was so ready, I felt so good … I wanted to hit her. Getting in the cage was a victory."
