Rudy Giuliani Hospitalized in Florida in Critical But Stable Condition

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently receiving care at a Florida hospital. The 81-year-old's condition has been described as critical but stable, according to a statement from his spokesman Ted Goodman.
"Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition," Goodman said. "Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he's fighting with that same level of strength as we speak. We do ask that you join us in prayer for America's Mayor — Rudy Giuliani."
Goodman shared the update on social media Sunday evening, May 3rd. The exact cause of the hospitalization has not yet been revealed.
Giuliani served as New York City's mayor throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s, holding office from 1994 to 2001. His tenure concluded during the September 11th attacks, with the primary election for his successor scheduled for that same day.
His political career extended beyond City Hall. In 2000, he mounted a U.S. Senate campaign against Hillary Clinton but withdrew from the race following a prostate cancer diagnosis. Years later, he sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, though he ultimately exited that race due to weak primary performance.
More recently, Giuliani worked as a consultant on Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and continued in an advisory capacity during the early portion of Trump's administration. He subsequently joined Trump's legal team, remaining involved through the 2020 election cycle. During this period, he faced allegations related to corruption and profiteering in his role as the president's attorney.
In 2024, Giuliani was indicted on charges stemming from the 2020 election in Arizona. He was disbarred by New York in July of that year, followed by disbarment from the District of Columbia in September. Trump granted him a federal pardon in the fall.
