Scarlett Johansson Signs On as Executive Producer for Netflix's 'The Nanny Diaries' Series
Scarlett Johansson is expanding her role in the entertainment industry by taking on an executive producer credit for a fresh take on a beloved film property.
The actress, who starred in the 2007 film adaptation of Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus's novel, will executive produce a new television series based on the same material. The project is being developed at Netflix through a partnership between Greg Berlanti's Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
The story follows Annie, an impoverished writer searching for her next big narrative who accepts a position as a nanny for an influential Upper East Side socialite. This opportunity grants her entry into a rarefied world of extraordinary wealth and privilege. When Annie secures a publishing deal that requires her to document and reveal the hidden truths behind the glamorous facades of the ultra-wealthy, she finds herself navigating a precarious balancing act. As she becomes emotionally invested in her charges and their world, she must confront uncomfortable realities about her enigmatic employer.
The original 2007 film featured an ensemble cast including Laura Dern, Paul Giamatti, Alicia Keys, Chris Evans, and Nicholas Reese Art alongside Johansson.
