Schmigadoon! Brings Broadway to Life with Glamorous Opening Night

The Broadway stage welcomed Schmigadoon! this week as the production launched with an elegant opening-night gathering that drew an impressive roster of celebrity attendees.

Among those gracing the event were Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Aaron Tveit and wife Ericka Hunter Yang, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jesse Eisenberg, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez, Leslie Odom Jr. and Nicolette Robinson, Patrick Page and Paige Davis, Adrienne Warren, Lorne Michaels, and Cecily Strong, among many others.

Worth noting: both Aaron Tveit and Cecily Strong previously appeared in the Apple TV iteration of the project.

The production centers on Alex Brightman and Sara Chase as Josh Skinner and Melissa Gimble, a couple who find themselves transported into Schmigadoon—a whimsical town where life unfolds as an endless musical. In this enchanted place, characters break into song at every turn, cornfields stretch impossibly high, and a bridge leading out of town mysteriously goes nowhere. To escape their predicament, Josh and Melissa must discover genuine love—though whether that love exists between them remains uncertain.

The Broadway cast also includes Ana Gasteyer as Mildred Layton, Ann Harada returning as Florence Menlove, Brad Oscar as Mayor Menlove, Isabelle McCalla as Emma Tate, Ivan Hernandez as Doc, Maulik Pancholy as The Reverend, Max Clayton as Danny Bailey, McKenzie Kurtz as Betsy Tate, and Ayaan Diop as Carson.

The limited run continues through September 6. Tickets are available now.
