Shakira made history on the sands of Rio de Janeiro, performing a landmark free concert at Copacabana Beach that drew an estimated 2 million attendees on Saturday, May 2, as part of the Todo Mundo no Rio 2026 festival.

The 49-year-old performer followed in the footsteps of fellow global superstars—Madonna headlined a similarly massive show at the same venue in 2024, with Lady Gaga taking the stage there the following year.

The evening got underway after an initial delay exceeding an hour, opening with an impressive drone display that painted shapes across the night sky, including the artist's iconic "She Wolf" logo and a portrait of her face. The setlist drew heavily from her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, with the performer rotating through multiple Etro designs, plus custom pieces inspired by the colors and symbolism of the Brazilian flag.

The stage welcomed an impressive lineup of Brazilian music royalty. Anitta joined Shakira to perform their new collaboration "Choka Choka," while legendary artists Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia, and Ivete Sangalo each made their own appearances throughout the evening.

Speaking to the crowd largely in Portuguese, Shakira reflected on her deep connection to Brazil. "I arrived here when I was 18 years old, dreaming about singing for you. And now look at this. Life is magical," she shared with the audience.

Rio's mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, confirmed the attendance figures via social media, posting: "Everyone in Rio with @Shakira : 2 million people. The She-Wolf made history in Rio. Feel free to share—it's the official figure from @Prefeitura_Rio."

The concert spanned 28 songs across the main set and encore, ranging from early career hits like "Whenever, Wherever" and "Hips Don't Lie" to recent tracks including "Te Felicito" and "TQG." The performance concluded with "She Wolf" and "BZRP Music Sessions #53."
