Snooki Opens Up About Cervical Cancer Diagnosis and Upcoming Hysterectomy

April 22, 2026

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is preparing for a significant health procedure following her cervical cancer diagnosis. The Jersey Shore star, 38, revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with the disease in its early stages—a finding her doctors assured her was treatable.

Polizzi explained to People that she had initially been attending routine screenings after precancerous cells were detected. However, she eventually began skipping her appointments, prompting her physician to take action.

"My doctor was leaving me a voicemail screaming at me like, 'You need to get in here. This is serious. You don't want it to escalate.' That's when I finally went in," she shared. Once she returned for her screening, doctors discovered "a ton" of precancerous cells.

Since her February diagnosis, the cancer has not progressed. The reality star will undergo a hysterectomy as her treatment, which will eliminate the need for further medical intervention.

Despite the practical benefits of the procedure, Polizzi acknowledged the emotional weight of the decision. "I'm not great with pain, so thinking about removing an organ is scary. That's a part of being a woman and even though I'm done having kids, the thought of not being able to really upset me. It messes with you a little bit," she said.

Polizzi shares three children with husband Jionni LaValle: Lorenzo, 13, Angelo, 6, and Giovanna, 11.

Moving forward, the star is prioritizing her health and wellness. "I talk to my doctor all the time now. I wanna be healthier. I'm just trying to be the best version of myself because I'm getting older and I wanna age gracefully," she explained.

Most importantly, Polizzi is using her platform to encourage others to prioritize preventive care. "I feel like nobody talks about cervical cancer. The main point of me talking about this is for girls to get on their s–t and not do what I did… this is very preventable," she emphasized.

Her openness joins a growing number of celebrities who have publicly discussed their hysterectomy experiences, including Kathy Griffin, who had her uterus removed in January 2025, and Lena Dunham, who underwent the procedure years ago.
