So You Think You Can Dance Ends After 18 Seasons on Fox

After 18 seasons, So You Think You Can Dance is coming to an end.
Fox network president Rob Wade confirmed to Variety that the dance competition show will not be moving forward with new installments in the foreseeable future. "Obviously, a really important show in the history of Fox, and right now, there's no plans to order another season. We've had conversations about it, but nothing formal," Wade explained.
The most recent season wrapped up in spring 2024, with Cat Deely serving as host alongside judges Allison Holker, JoJo Siwa, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Launched in 2005, the Fox series functioned as the network's counterpart to ABC's Dancing with the Stars and became a summer television fixture through 2019. The show subsequently faced obstacles that disrupted its trajectory, including a production pause during the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the series returned, it introduced a new judging panel. Matthew Morrison, known for his role in Glee, joined the judges' table but eventually departed after not adhering to "competition production protocols." Additionally, original judge Nigel Lythgoe was slated to appear on a "reimagined season 18" before stepping away following two lawsuits alleging sexual assault. JoJo Siwa subsequently filled that position.
In contrast, Dancing with the Stars has already revealed its first two celebrity contestants for its upcoming 35th season.
