The 2026 Cannes Film Festival welcomed Sophie Thatcher and Charles Melton to the red carpet on Monday night for the world premiere of their new horror thriller, "Her Private Hell."

Despite rainy conditions, the co-stars made their way down the carpet at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France on May 18. They were joined by fellow cast members Diego Calva, Kristine Forseth, and Havana Rose Liu, along with director, writer, and producer Nicolas Winding Refn.

The film follows a mysterious mist that descends upon a futuristic city, unleashing a deadly and elusive force. At the center of the story is a troubled young woman searching for her father, whose journey intersects with an American soldier attempting to rescue his own daughter from Hell.

The screening delivered a striking moment for the filmmaking team, with the audience rising for a 7-minute standing ovation. Following the film, Refn took to the stage to share a personal revelation with attendees. He disclosed that years earlier, he had experienced clinical death for 25 minutes before being resuscitated through electrical intervention.

"That changes you, when I was brought back by electricity," Refn told the crowd, as reported by Variety. "Now that I'm alive again, I only have 25 years left of my life to live. But I'm going to make damn use of that to live life to the fullest."

The director continued his remarks, reflecting on the significance of returning to Cannes with this project. "To make this film again and to be back here at Cannes, where I came from, is a huge step for mankind. And I am here to lead the torch but it's not just me."

"Her Private Hell" arrives in theaters on July 24. The evening saw Thatcher in a custom Louis Vuitton gown, while Melton opted for a custom Louis Vuitton suit paired with Carmina shoes and Chopard jewelry. Liu turned heads in a custom Balenciaga dress and Manolo Blahnik heels.
