Sophie Thatcher, Joe Alwyn, and Erin Kellyman Cast in Period Thriller 'Cavendish'

April 26, 2026

Three rising talents are coming together for a new project. Sophie Thatcher, Joe Alwyn, and Erin Kellyman have been tapped to headline the thriller Cavendish, with Christopher Andrews at the helm as director.

The film follows a woman accused of witchcraft on her wedding day in 1645. Thatcher takes on the lead role as the young bride, while Alwyn portrays a relentless witch hunter pursuing her. Kellyman rounds out the trio as a cunning poacher existing on society's fringes. Together, the characters form an unlikely partnership, channeling their vulnerability into power through acts of violence, intelligence, and resistance.

The production marks a collaboration between BBC Film and benefits from backing by the Polish Film Institute's cash rebate program. Cornerstone has secured international sales and distribution duties and will begin pitching the film at Cannes, while CAA Media Finance is managing the domestic market.

Andrews brings momentum from his acclaimed debut feature Bring Them Down, which screened in the Special Presentation category at TIFF in 2024. That same year, he received the Douglans Hickox Award for Outstanding Debut Director at the British Independent Film Awards.

Filming is slated to kick off in Poland in September. The casting announcement comes as Alwyn also recently signed on to portray one of multiple husbands in the upcoming Apple TV series The Husbands, which stars Juno Temple.
