Netflix's 'Survival of the Thickest' Concludes With Third and Final Season This Summer

'Survival of the Thickest' is wrapping up its run at Netflix with the arrival of its third season.

The comedy series follows Mavis Beaumont, a Black, plus-size stylist and designer portrayed by Michelle Buteau, as she navigates love, self-acceptance, and professional ambitions. Supported by her chosen family and armed with body positivity, Mavis pursues her goals as a fashion professional. The show draws inspiration from Buteau's celebrated collection of personal essays.

The final season drops on Netflix on July 2. Alongside Buteau, the cast includes Tone Bell and Marouane Zotti, with an extensive lineup of guest appearances from Peppermint, Liza Treyger, Garcelle Beauvais, Wanda Sykes, D.L. Hughley, Ashley Graham, Ronny Chieng, Ice-T, Wyatt Cenac, Jenna Lyons, LaQuan Smith, Charles Harbison, Ashley Romans, Anthony Michael Lopez, Alecsys Proctor-Turner, Jonathan Higginbotham, Dan Amboyer and RonReaco Lee.

Reflecting on the greenlight for the final season, co-creator Michelle Buteau shared her enthusiasm, describing the experience as "such a beautiful every-day-is-a-birthday-gift with no gift receipt!" She teased that the third season will "be lived in, lived out loud, we'll tie up and let it loose, honey!"
