'The Bear' Honors Late Guest Star Rob Reiner in Final Episode

The Bear's series finale contains a heartfelt nod to late guest star Rob Reiner.

The acclaimed director made appearances across three episodes in season four, taking on the role of Albert Schnurr, a restaurant consultant who collaborated with line cook Ebra (Edwin Lee Gibson). Reiner passed away in December 2025.

Released Thursday, June 25, the finale episode—titled "The Original Beef of Chicagoland"—features a scene where Ebra reaches out to Albert seeking guidance on turning the restaurant into a franchise operation.

"Albert, we are in business," Ebra tells him during their conversation. Albert responds affirmatively, offering to prepare all necessary paperwork and send it over. He then asks if there's anything else he can assist with.

Ebra's reply carries special significance: "As you wish."

The phrase serves as an homage to Reiner's 1987 classic film The Princess Bride, where the character Westley (Cary Elwes) repeatedly tells Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright) "As you wish" to express his deep devotion to her.

Reiner and his wife Michele died in December 2025. Their son Nick has been charged in connection with their deaths and has entered a not guilty plea.
