The highly anticipated reboot of The Blair Witch Project is taking shape with fresh developments emerging about its creative team.

Lionsgate and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster are collaborating on the project, bringing aboard horror director Dylan Clark to helm the film. Clark has built a reputation through his work in the YouTube horror landscape and is currently working with Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele to adapt his horror short Portrait of God.

In a significant turn of events, original Blair Witch Project actors Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams have joined the reboot as executive producers. They're working alongside the film's original creators—Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale—who are also serving as executive producers on the new installment.

The involvement of Leonard and Williams marks a shift from earlier developments. When the reboot was first announced in April 2024 at Lionsgate's CinemaCon panel, Leonard expressed his disappointment on social media about not being included in the project. His involvement now signals a change in direction for the filmmakers.

The original 1999 film remains a cultural touchstone in horror cinema. Made on a modest $35,000 budget, it grossed $249 million worldwide, making it one of the most profitable films ever produced.

Details about the plot for the new reboot remain under wraps at this stage. Given the franchise's signature style, industry observers anticipate the film will likely incorporate found-footage elements, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
